Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in Illinois

medical malpractice

my daughter had laberal tear surgery on the 10th of dec. and was admitted in immediatly on the 14th with blood clots to her lungs. Her surgeon never had blood work of any kind done before surgery, she is an active 33 yr old woman, with a full time job, doesnt take any hormone tables ect. Isnt it a law for bloodwork in illinois to check for unseeable hormone changes? this was his answer even though he says the surgery part went fine.

Re: medical malpractice

The standard of practice for surgeons would require that blood work be performed prior to surgery. It sounds like he violatred the standard of care and may have some liability based on the information provided. I hope your daughter has recovered.
