Narcotics to an alcohlic

My husband is an alcohlic and his Dr. has been prescribing him narcotics such as vicodine.I called his Dr. to be sure he was aware that my husband has a drinking problem. He was not, though he did tell me my husband had an appointment that evening. I found out that he presribed him 90 vicodine. I'm not sure if this is malpractice or just unethical. Any advice you have would be heplful, Thank you.

In order for a person to have a medical malpractice he or she must prove that 1) the doctor failed to follow the standard of care in the community in which he practices, and 2) as the result of the failure to follow the standard of care, the patient has sustained some sort of an injury.

You simply are not giving enough information in order to know whether your husband has been injured as the result of the vicodin prescription and also what are the vicodin for in the first place.
