Psychiatrist's Duty to Educate

While in law school in 2005, I visited the school psychiatrist and was tested for ADD. After several visits and tests, the doctor prescribed a week of Ritalin and told me to pick it up at the doctor's office because she was not going to be in. The Ritalin worked--I was able to study, and read for many hours, but the doctor never educated me about how ADD affected me globally. At the time, I thought that it only affected my ability to read volumes of work. I told the doctor that I wanted to make sure that I succeeded during the summer at my Summer Associate Position in a large law firm, and wasnt going to have a doc in Boston. However, after a friend told me that she too had ADD, I had the school psychiatrist send my records to my new psychiatrist before I left. Neither doc told me what ADD was and they did not educate me as to how serious the condition is. They just prescribed meds. At the firm, I took the meds but they made me nervous. I made a lot of errors (due to what I now know was caused by ADD). I quit my summer associate position at the end of the summer because I felt that I was being picked on and lied about (things that were due to inattention) but I didn't know. Now I cant find another job. What was their duty to me?
