If someone has already gone AWAL and a warrant as gone out for their arrest what will happen to them if they voluntarily turn themselves in now?

Re: Already gone AWAL
The term is AWOL. Depending on the time gone, a "deserter status" could be assigned. I suspect that this might be your case, if a warrant has issued. If issued, the federal warrant would be entered into the NICS data base, and if you are stopped for anything, you will be taken into custody. You can turn yourself into any military installation voluntarily, which is much better than being apprehended. You will be taken to a pre-trial detention facility, and an initial hearing would take place. If you left from, say, a Texas military installation, it is likely that you would be taken there. After that, there is/are a variety of things that might/may happen. It all depends, and I would advise you to hire an attorney who has a background in military law, like me, to help you during this difficult time. Good Luck!
