Legal Question in Military Law in Illinois
Military Disability
My husband will most likely be going before the Army Medical Board within the next six months to a year. Hes had surgery on both feet and on his back due to injuries sustained in the line of duty. At least one of his doctors has deemed him unfit to remain in the military. Were gravely concerned that he'll be denied the benefits to which he is entitled and wary about trusting anyone connected to the military, JAG officers included.
Given the recent news that the Army told the VA to discontinue assistance to disabled veterans who are going through the medical board process at Ft. Drum, is it possible for a disabled veteran to retain a private attorney to represent him/her before the medical board? If so, how does one locate such an attorney?
