Legal Question in Personal Injury in Illinois

Auto Accident

I was involved in an auto accident. My car's electrical system failed as I was driving down the road at 40 mph. I rear ended an SUV and totaled my car. I was not ticketed because of the nature of the accident. I had face injuries and a badly damaged knee. No one else was hurt either. My question is...Is there any way that the auto manufacturer would be liable for this? My car had no steering, no brakes, it just went dead while I was driving. I am lucky that I was not on the expressway or other circumstances that could have been much, much worse. The car was a 2002 Oldsmobile Alero. Any insight that you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Auto Accident

I am sorry to hear of your injuries.

From the information you have provided, you should have a products liability claim against the vehicle's manufacturer. You should immediately retain an attorney to protect against the tolling of the statute of limitations for product liability cases. Feel free to contact my office should you have additional questions or for a consultation.

Re: Auto Accident

You most certainly have a cause of action against the manufacturer of your vehicle. I suggest you contact an attorney as soon as possible so that your case gets evaluated in more detail.

I hope this helps,
