If a judge dismisses a case, can you try to re-open the case?

It depends on the reasons for the dismissal and what you mean by "try to re-open" it.

Under some circumstances a motion can be filed within 30 days, others a petition within 2 years. An appeal can be filed if timely and if the decision is reversed, the case may continue.
