Legal Question in Personal Injury in Illinois
compensation
In 2002, i hurt my knee, not on the job, which led to acl & miniscus surgery. Because of this, I am unable to perform my regular construction duties, much less walk without a limp.Is there some sort of compensation or ssi I am entitled to?

Re: compensation
The short answer is YES, workers' compensation should cover this injury. Did your employer pay the medical and for your time off already?
Unfortunately, work comp underpays on big injuries like yours. Are you out of the trades now? Did you file a claim yet?
You should hire an experienced attorney as soon as possible to protect your rights.

Hi Spencer!
My name is Jason Marker, I am an attorney in Chicago with The Law Offices of Davis & Marker. We specialize in worker's injuries.
My answer is YES, you do have the right to a multitude of benefits in your case. I urge you to call me right away so we can discuss your situation because you only have two years from the date of your injury to file for claims.
If hurt on the job, you would have the right to payment of all medical bills, time off work, and an amount for the permanency of your injury - which would be large if the job has forced you to be unable to return to your trade. You would also be entitled to SSI; however, they may advise you that if you have a valid workers' compensation claim, you have to attempt that route first.
Again, please call me immediately - I'd like to help you if it's not too late. Hope to hear from you soon -
