Legal Question in Personal Injury in Illinois

I'm confused by a letter i just received from my "lawyers", it says: "the fact that we are unable to represent you should not be interpreted as opinion, one way or the other, as to the merits of your potential claim. since a lawsuit has been file on your behalf, and we are not able to further represent you in this matter, we must either withdraw as your attorneys-of-record or dismiss the lawsuit, without prejudice." what does this really mean?

It means that a lawsuit has been filed on your behalf by your lawyers, but they do not want to continue as your lawyers, they want to make sure that you understand the fact that they don't want to be your lawyers does not mean you don't have a case so they can either simply withdraw from your case or dismiss your case so you can find another attorney and file it again.

You need to call them and ask for explanation as to the reason for their decision and talk to another attorney to see what you can do.

Good luck-
