Re: Dog bites

You can sue for whatever your damages are. The amount of the suit is designed to address what the damages were. If you have medical bills running into thousands (if there was surgery involved) or if the bite has caused a permanent injury, you can sue for hundred of thousands of dollars. But, remember, in Illinois, we do not give an exact number when a suit is filed.

My office has prosecuted many dog bite cases. If you need help in figuring out the who, what, where and how, I will be more than happy to assist you.

I hope this helps,

Taradji

Re: Dog bites

Dear Sirs:

Under the Illinois Animal Control Act you have a cause of action against the owner of a dog for an unprovoked bite.

There is no statutory limit to what you can receive, but in general your recovery will be based upon your medical bills, lost wages, and extent of injury.

We have successfully handled many such cases in the past.

Please call us to discuss.

Many thanks,

Re: Dog bites

In Illinois, you can be compensated for lost wages, past and futire, medical expenses past and future, disability, pain and suffering and disfigurement ( scarring). The amount that you can sue for is based on how many of these elements exist and to what extent. For example, a scar on your face is going to warrant more damages then a scar in an area that doesn't show.

I hope this helps you. Feel free to contact me if you have additional questions. I am currently handling two dogbite cases and am sure I can help.
