Dog Falsely Accused of Biting
My parent's dog was recently accused of biting a boy cutting through the yard. (mobilehome park, rented, no fences allowed) They got a notice, the boy came over to see the dog and told us it wasn't the one that bit him. He said there was one sitting by the house and it got caught on the chain and broke free to attack him when he ran by. Their dog was inside all morning except when I walked it on a leash after the alleged attack occurred. Now we get word from Animal Control that the boy says their dog did attack him, and other than that, they have been wholly unhelpful - they never even came out to see the dog or talk to my parents, just phone calls that they mostly ignore. There has never been an issue with the dog before, and unless the kid broke in, it wasn't her. There have also been numerous stray dogs of similar coloring roaming around, but apparently it MUST be their dog. They are now being threatened with a possible eviction over this.
What is our next step here? The dog doesn't deserve to be put down for something she didn't do, she is definitely a member of the family.
Thank you so much!

Re: Dog Falsely Accused of Biting
You may have recourse. I need a lot more information about this than you have provided. Please contact my office as soon as possible and speak with Angela, my assistant. I need to see all the paperwork you have, and interview you and your parents about this event.
I may be able to help you out. I have defended and prosecuted this sort of cases in the past.
