Re: injury
It sounds like they were negligent. You may be entitled to present and future medical expenses, lost wages if you miss work, disability and disfigurement, depending on the nature of the injury.
Re: injury
Dear Sirs:
A premise liability against a owner of property requires proof that a defect or dangerous condition existed on its property.
If that requirement is met, you may have a case.
In our opinion, a defective drain would constitute a defective or dangerous condition which would give rise to liability.
Very truly yours,

You can sue retain an attorney at once.
Re: injury
From what you say, you have a case. However, premises liability case are difficult to prove--the motel's insurance will argue that you could see the drain and you were careless and therefore you caused your own injury. You should get an attorney to help you in that. Without an attorney, you don't stand a chance to collect a dime or have your medical expenses and wage loss and any out of pocket expenses paid back to you.
