Legal Question in Personal Injury in Illinois
Jurisdiction
A man is in an accident on Hyw 57 in St Louis Ill. He is forced to swerve to keep from hitting a case of beer that has fell off of a Anheuser truck. The accident has ruined his life. he lost a singing contract and has mental problems, on and on. It has exceeded $75000.00 He is going to sue someone. More than likely the truck driver. My question is what court has jurisdiction? The man is from Kansas City MO. The driver is from St Louis, Mo, but the accident was in Illinois. Anheuser is in St Louis MO as well. The hospitals are in Illinois. What court has jurisdiction? Thank you Brenda Webb

Re: Jurisdiction
Hello. I suggests that the suit be filed in
Illinois where the accident occurred. Illinois
has the "most significant" contact with this
occurrence. If you have any additional questions, I will be happy to answer them.
Re: Jurisdiction
Either Illinois, Kansas City (Jackson county) or St. Louis, MO are proper courts. Speak with an experienced trial lawyer in the St. Louis Area and have them evaluate the case ASAP, preferably one licensed in both Illinois and Missouri.
