laid off, after the injury

i was injured at work it was diagnosed as a occupational and repetetive injury. i transport the elderly and disabled that are wheelchair limited. the injury was noticed and reported in 09-of 03 and i was laid off in 01 of 04 i was on restricted duty.my surgery was 03 of 04 am i intiteled to pay from jan.thru march.was i laid off legaly. thanks
