Legal Question in Personal Injury in Illinois
I am laid up and out of work due to a broken arm from a fall on the ice. Can I ask my landlady to file a claim to her homeowners insurance for medical bills(i am uninsured) and lost wages?

You can file a claim. Will you recover? That is where the facts of your fall will come into play.
I suggest consulting with an attorney regarding the "incident".

What you do is send a demand letter to the landlady, who then forwards it to her insurance company. You then deal with them directly.
This could be a difficult case and you should retain an attorney to represent your interests. The reason for the difficulty will be that premise owners are generally not liable for "natural accumulations" of ice and snow. Unless you can prove that your landlady somehow moved the ice/snow into an "unnatural accumulation", the claim will be denied and you will recover nothing. Proving otherwise requires a lawyer, who may have to take the case as far as trial.
You will be entitled to significant damages, including reasonable medical expenses, lost income, disability, disfigurement, et cetera.
