Legal Question in Personal Injury in Illinois
If I lend money to a plaintiff on a workers compensation case and the plaintiff gets a settlement, is the lawyer required to pay my loan?

No. There are no liens recognized under Illinois WC statute. You can try to obtain a letter of direction from the borrower instructing his attorney to repay the loan (with interest) but there is no guarantee that this will be successful.
