Re: Personal Injuy Accident

You cannot buy an extension of a statute of limitations. Either get a complaint on file by the 31st or waive your claim.

Re: Personal Injuy Accident

Illinois has a 2 year statute for personal injury cases. If you were 18 or under at the time of the accident you would have until your 20th birthday to file suit.

There are very few exceptions to the two year rule.

You can't extend it.

Re: Personal Injuy Accident

The short answer is "no." You cannot extend the statute of limitation beyond the 2 year period.

Why would you want that anyways? If you have not been able to settle your case in two years, what gives you the thought that you would be able to settle it after that period? In most cases, the best way to get the insurance companies to pay up, is to go ahead with the lawsuit and take the case to the brink of a jury trial. Most of the time, they come up with money when they are forced to go all the way.

I hope this helps,

Generally speaking, no. There are exceptions, but they are rare. You should see an attorney asap!
