Legal Question in Personal Injury in Illinois

Rear end accident

I was recently rear ended while stopped at a red light. My car is totaled and I have back as well as neck injuries. I was paying for my car monthly through a finance company, the blue book value is below what I owe on the car. And the other driver was at fault, do I need to continue making the car payments since I no longer have the vehicle, Or what should I do now. Do you know a good attorney in the state of Joliet, Illinois.

You must continue paying for the car. You must also treat your injuries. If you were rear ended, the other person probably has most, if not all of the liability.

I have tried rear end cases before juries in Joliet. My office is in Oak Brook.

Yes, you do need to keep paying if you wish to protect your credit and avoid a collection matter. I am licensed in Illinois and have handled cases in Will County. I can either help you or refer you to an attorney.

Yes, you are still contractually responsible for the payments on the car. You want to keep your credit good. You would be able to claim the damages in a lawsuit as one of the counts. You should speak with your insurance company as to what your policy will cover. I practice in Joliet IL so if you would like a free consultation, please contact me and we'll be happy to discuss your case, advising you of your options.
