Legal Question in Personal Injury in Illinois

Recently I was hit by a van that ran a stop sign as I was driving. I did not have a stop sign so I had the right of way. He agreed that it was his fault and he told the police he had insurance. It was $6000 worth of damage and he agreed to pay out of his pocket. We also agreed on a date that he would pay. I did not hear from him on that date. I called his insurance company and they said he did not have insurance for the van. He was only insured for his work truck. I had to go through my insurance for the repair. Can I still sue him for the $6000? What can I do to successfully sue him?

Yes.

You may be able to sue him in Civil Court for your damages.

You would need to get a judgment and go after any assets this individual may have.
