Legal Question in Personal Injury in Illinois

Slip and Fall

I fell at Burger King on January 27, 2008 and I was trying to settle out of court myself. I went to therapy twice a week for six weeks and due to the injury I can no longer wear high heeled shoes. (I had to purchase flat shoes after this injury). Burger King called me today and decided all they will offer is $1,000 then offered $1,500 in the next two minutes. Due to the time off of work which was 2-3 hours twice a week and my injury I know that I can get at least $10,000 plus what they need to pay the insurance carrier back. Should I take the money and run or get legal assistance. Please help!

Re: Slip and Fall

You can not take the money AND run for legal assistance. They will insist that you sign a release of claims before giving you any money.

Falls are difficult cases to handle on your own. I have had cases with Burger King and McDonalds in Illinois and Indiana and they will not settle with an individual for a fair amount.

You should contact an attorney asap.

Re: Slip and Fall

Before they give you the money, they will have you sign a release which effectively puts an end to all your claims. If a $1500 satisfy you, then take the money.

But I would not think that it would be wise to do so.

You would do yourself a favor by getting an attorney to look over your case and see what's what. You may be entitled to at least $10k, or you may be entitled to 100 times that amount. It all depends on the circumstances of your case.

If you like to talk about your case further, I will be happy to discuss it with you. First consultation and case evaluation is always free.

I hope this helps,

Taradji
