Legal Question in Personal Injury in Illinois
Can I sue a doctor for a sexual assault
Can I sue after the SOL for a sexual assault? This happened 7 yrs ago but just recently is when I KNEW I was assaulted. I would tell myself that he is a doctor and there must have been a reason for it, but in my gut, I thought something felt wrong. Then 6 months ago I heard that this emergency room doctor had done the EXACT same thing to one of my sisters friends 2 years ago. It was then that I knew without a doubt in my mind that I was indeed a sexual assault victim at the hands of a doctor who is suppose to help you. I would also say with confidence. that there are more victims out there. If he had done this once 7 yrs ago and then again 2 yrs ago, the odds are he has done this many more times. This man has to be stopped. Should I call a detective? File a lawsuit?Call a newspaper? What can be done to stop him? I suffer everyday because of this. I don't want anyone else to go through what i did and still do.I'm sure with a hidden camera, he would be caught. Can't go to the hospital and complain, they will only cover this up so not to get sued for employing him. Can anyone help me ? I will greatly appreciate any and all advise. Thank You

You need to contact an attorney who is concentrated in sexual assault cases. You may or may not have rights in this case.

Re: Can I sue a doctor for a sexual assault
In many states there are provisions that will allow a victim to bring a case against a perpetrator after the statute of limitations has ended if the victim recently discovered the actions. I do not know if that would apply to your situation. There are attorneys in WI and in IL that specialize in this type of case. You can find them on an internet search or by contacting the WI or IL bar association. Good luck, and I am sorry that this has happened to you.
I hope that I have helped, answered all of your questions, and that I have provided you with useful information. Please contact me if I have not answered all of your questions.
Please be aware that my answer is not legal advice, it is merely information. You and I have not entered into an attorney/client relationship. The only way that I am legally responsible for your legal rights is if you have signed a written retainer agreement with my law firm.
