Legal Question in Personal Injury in Illinois

Wife (33 yrs old, state of Illinois) was in a chain grocery store on Friday evening and stepped on some type of metal sticking out of the floor at the grocery store. sustained some pretty bad bleeding, parametics were called but didn't need to go to the hospital. She requested to see the store manager and have the manager fill out a claim. She will go see a doctor on Monday and will miss time from work due to the injury. She is part time, so no work means no pay.

What should our next steps be?

You should get a copy of the incident report, and if possible, try to get a photograph of the object she tripped over. Any witnesses? I recommend tracking them down as well.
