Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois

30 day notice

My son has been renting a trailor for 2-1/2 years. he told his landlord that if he found a house to rent he would want to move and the landlord told him that would be fine to give him a 30 day notice. well now that my son has finally found a house and has given a 30 day notice the landlord says he didn't say that. and wants my son to continue paying the rent after he moves and wants him to sign a promisory note stateing that he will. all the lease says is from april 2002-2003 nothing else, and my son has never been given a rent receipt ever and the landlord wants cash. Can he make my son pay rent after he moves. Please Help

Re: 30 day notice

If the lease does in fact say nothing else but "April 2002 - April 2003" it may not be valid. YOu really don't say enough in your msg for anyone to give a cogent answer. May I please suggest that you consult a lawyer as soon as possible before doing anything else? GOOD LUCK!
