Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois

I had body work done on my car.. the repairs were done bad and they damaged some parts on my car... now they sent me a letter that if i dont pay they will put a mechanics lien on my car.. i owe them a 700 dollars... i never signed any papers agreeing on price and work.. it was all spoken.. can they take my car?

In Illinois this is called a "garageman's lien" and if they follow the proper procedure they may just be able to have the car sold to pay for the repairs, even if defective. You may have the right to object but you ought to get a lawyer involved!!! Good luck.
