Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois

We bought our very first house in Highland, il in 2008 and since it has been a nightmare. They did not disclose a house fire and that they did only partial wiring to the house and black mold. The contractors quit fixing the electric because they were not getting paid by the person that owned the house. We sued but because they say they do not have enough money they can't get us the $10,000 they were supposed to award us. We even offered to give them to back the house and all. The judge Donald Flack awarded only $15,000 to fix electrical but $5,000 goes to our lawyer. It is at least $15,000 to get that done, plus what has been destroyed from our wiring. We have not any heat/AC because of electrical, took out computers(for online school, stove, dryer and washer, the units all here) The Breaker box is so outdated and not safe in this house. We bought for $100,000 and almost still can't believe what we have been through. Contacted the Government and they are looking into it with our case number. We are a family of 4 with a non verbal autistic son which is severely deaf and also has many sensory issues. Our kids had to move out because DCFS said the house is too dangerous for them to live in. We are wanting to know if there is anything else we can do to get out of this home. Due to this home being on credit report we can not get another home. We were screwed on buying our first home and now screwed on getting another livable home and on the first time buyers home loans and to have my kids back with us instead of with their grandma. We need as much advice as possible. Please contact me asap 618-401-2489 anytime. We only have 2 months to find something to live in.

Since I am out of your area I would be an unlikely candidate to assist you with these horrendous legal issues; you really need local counsel. And since you actually obtained a judgment with help of counsel it is highly possible that any other legal rights you may have had and didn't bring up may have been terminated. There's just too much history here to even begin to unravel it. But you sound like you're at wits end so here may be a few things to think about: You don't mention a few things: Homeowner insurance claim (at least for loss of use if you have to move out for a period of time)? Capital loss tax relief? Adjust property value for property tax purposes? Family assistance? Church assistance? You may actually have to consider bankruptcy and a short sale. Did Highland itself get involved and is there either a move-out order or demolition order possibly involved? Have you talked to Highland about the possibility of putting a modular home on your property if the house needs to be demolished (this would also require your mortgage company and homeowner insurance company). I hope you can find some answers for yourselves and your family.
