i bought property at a tax sale. I was told that I had to pay taxes 3 years before I could get a deed on the property. I live in IL. How do I go about getting a deed for this land?

The procedures are statutory and complicated. You will find the them in the Illinois Compiled Statutes, ch. 35 (REVENUE), Section 200/Art. 22 ("Tax Deeds and Procedures").

You do know the three years have to pass before getting deed right? The homeowner has the chance to come back and repay those tax liens at a sizeable interest rate.
