Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois

buying property with tennants and how to evict

I have bought property that has tennants living there now. There was no written lease agreement between the previous owners and the tennants. They have been told that they need to move out by the end of the month, but they are refusing to do this. How can I legally evict the tennants so that I may move into my new property?

Re: buying property with tennants and how to evict

Under Illinois law, you are required

to give these hold-over tenants a

30 day termination of tenancy notice.

If they do not move within 30 days,

you can file a forcible action (land-

lord tenant suit) and have them

evicted by the court.
