Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois

Chicago Residential Lease

Is it true that a Chicago landlord must use a specific rental lease for Chicago that is different than an Illinois Rental lease? If so, where can they be found online. I need a Chicago Apartment Lease as well as a Chicago House Rental Lease. Thanks, John

Re: Chicago Residential Lease

most any Illinois form that you might need can be found at American Legal Forms in Chicago. I beleive that they are on Washington Street. Do a search for American Legal Forms and Chicago online and you should be able to find their website.

Re: Chicago Residential Lease

Dear Friend,

No, you can use any lease form from any office supply store. However, if the apartment is in a building with more than 6 units, you must attach to the lease a summary of the Chicago Residential Landord and Tenant Ordinance, which can be obtained from the Chicago Dept. of Housing. If you do not, you are in violation of the Act. Please feel free to let me know if I can be of further assistantce.

Sincerely,

Gerald Nordgren
