Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois

I own a condo. The building management has asked me to leave a set of keys for my unit with the Management Office in case of emergency. Is this legal and must I give them a set?

If this is a rule made by the Board, you run the risk of fines and possible litigation if you don't. You should be entitled to reasonable assurances that the keys would be secure and that the association is properly insured; alternatively you should be given the choice of not providing the keys but in the event of an emergency (water leak to a unit below for example while you are out) you may be required to agree that the Association can break in your door and that you would have to pay for it to be repaired.
