Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois
Easement Dispute
I purchased a townhouse with an easement including the use of a parking area. One owner closest to parking spaces fenced off all four parking spaces and placed a lock on the gate before I purchased the property. I asked the neighbor for a copy of key or the removal of the lock. He refuses to cooperate stating the area is his property. I showed him a certified copy of the easement, but he will not comply with any request. Is my title company responsible for suing the neighbor for access to parking area?

Re: Easement Dispute
The title company is not responsible for suing your neighbor--that would be up to you.
