Emminent Domain
I am a business owner in Il. The gov. entity wants to buy us out. What are my rights to protect myself and to get the best price from them. We are on a 5 corner downtown prime location,they are eventually going to force us out at a minimal price. I have 4 children, 2 in college that I pay for. What are my rights?

Eminment domain in Illinois can, at times, be either easy or complex, and there are a web of statutes (and constitutional) issues to consider.
The bottom line is that you are entitled to receive market value for your property, but the question inevitably arises as to what is that value.
