Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois

Encroachment of trees

My neighbor planted trees along our common property line. They have now grown quite large and have spread out making it difficult to mow grass on my property. The branches now have reached a tree on my property which is well back from the property line and I am afraid they will damage my tree or affect its growth. I also believe that the uncontrolled growth of these trees is negatively affecting my property value. I have found nothing in local ordinances addressing this issue. What options do I have in this regard?

Re: Encroachment of trees

Anything that hangs over your property line you can cut. The exception is if you will kill his tree. I would discuss this with te neighbor but its your move.
