Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois

Am I entitled to the sale of his mom's house?

I have been living w/my boyfriend for 5 yrs w/our children, we both have bad credit so we asked his mom to purchase a home under her name. I am now at the point of leaving. He and I have a joint bank acct but I pay all the bills in the home including mortgage. If I move out his mom will sell the home and give him anything remaining, even though I have been paying all the bills. Am I entitled to anything from this sale?

Re: Am I entitled to the sale of his mom's house?

Hello. You and your boyfriend were

technically tenants of his mom. There

fore you and he had no ownership rights. If you move out, your boyfriend's mother can give him everything from the sale, if she wants. I am assuming that you and he did not deposit earnest money for the purchase or pay a downpayment. However, your children are entitled to child support, so when you move out consider taking him to court on this issue. Will be happy to discuss this with you further and in more detail.
