Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois

Escrow refund

In my divorce settlement I deeded over the house to my ex. She abandoned the house and moved overseas leaving it to go into foreclosure. Since the it was sold and the mortgage was paid off. I remained a co-mortgagor. An escrow refund was just mailed adressed to the mortgagors myself and my ex at my address. My ex did not leave a forwarding address. Am I entitled to half or all of this check?

Re: Escrow refund

Your Ex is entitled to half the proceeds on the sale - congratulations on there being anything left, by the way - you should put the money in a bank account titled "Y in trust for X" - the bank will know.

The next question is how long does it need to be held for her. I don't know the exact term of years, but longer than you would like. By the way, the interest is hers too.
