Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois

false mortgage application

my partner and i share a house. i was buying a house from her. the lender assured her i was mortgage qualified. the same lender listed her house. the lender falsified job and income information on my application even though i requested a stated income loan and was told that i would get one. the lender presented me with false docs and i rejected them. she then told me i could get a stated loan.

1 hour before closing she said someone would call to verify i paid my rent in cash. i knew this was not a stated no doc loan. my friend lost a sale, i lost a house, and together we lost money to invest in our business can i sue.

Re: false mortgage application

Without answering the question as to whether you can bring a lawsuit, you must answer the question of how you were damaged. Before I would jump over this hurdle, I would consider filing a complaint with HUD.
