Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois

My husband recently passed away. We had no will but the only thing in his name is his pickup truck. What do I need to do to get this put in my name?

From the facts you have provided, it is likely that you would qualify to transfer title through a Small Estate Affidavit, available at the Secretary of State Motor Vehicle Facilities. If there are bills that remain your husband's responsibility, then the affidavit may not be proper unless and until you are able to address the bills. I also recommend you see to having your own will and powers of attorney prepared soon.
