Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois

illegal retaliation

Is it illegal retaliation if my landlord tries to change my lease to no longer allow me access to the back yard that I have been using for the last 8 months because they are MAD at us for calling the city about their building permits...They are now telling us that we have been ''mean to their family'' and are trying to amend our lease. They are also tryting to make other changes to the lease as well. We think they are violating our lease by no longer allowing us access to the yard as well as harrassing us with the noise of 2 adults, 3 children, and 4 dogs living above us, they illegally evicted our one quiet neighbor and are using the house for themselves. They tell us that it is THEIR HOUSE and they will do what they want!

Re: illegal retaliation

Your landlord has no right to change the lease before it expires. It's a contract and leases are signed precisely because it enables people to know their rights for the term of the lease.
