If you fail to go any of the court hearings you can live in the house until you get an eviction notice. After that you will have about 30 days. How much time you will have until the eviction notice depends on several factors like how full the court's docket is and what stage the foreclosure proceeding is at.

If you were served with the foreclosure lawsuit, however, you can most likely count on a minimum of 4 months in the immediate Chicago area. PS by failing to show up you waive your rights to interpose any defenses to any deficiency judgment too, so if your loan was $50,000 and the lender only gets $40,000 at the Sheriff's sale, you owe $10,000 and they'll be coming for that too....
