Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois
Land Access
We own land and we are locked in with no road access. The owners of the land behind us will not provide us with access. Is there any law that states that after a certain amount of years we are eligible for a certain % of there land for access?

Your problem is a classic law school question. You will have to sue to enforce your right to an easement. You will have to hire a real estate attorney. Good Luck!
Re: Land Access
There are a few things to consider. First, did you get title insurance when you purchased? Because one of the main things title insurance protects is access to the property. So you may have a claim against the title insurance company if they didn't raise that problem.
Second, there are easements by necessity and easements by prescription. In other words, there are such things as court-declared easements if you sue and win. Obviously, you'd have to talk to a real estate litigator since this is a very specialized area. Good luck!
