My lease reads:On this March 24,2011 the lessee agrees to pay $xxx.xx on the 24th of each month beginning April.
My question: If I paid deposit and 1st months rent on 3/24 that would make my next payment due 4/24 correct?

While this is a bit oddball (normally rent is on the 1st and if there is a partial month at the beginning and end of the term then rent for each partial month is prorated) apparently your landlord made the lease run from the 24th of each month to the 23rd or 24rd of each following month (it would be obvious if the end of the term is on the 23rd or 24th of the month). If that is the case, then yes, rent is due each 24th. This assumes as well that you were given possession of the rental unit on March 24th.
