Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois

How can I get out of my lease?

I signed a lease renewing the apartment I was already in. The new lease is effective from 6/1/02 through 5/31/02, at $900 per month.

I need to move out of Illinois for work purposes. Can I legally get out of my lease? I know my landlord is not going to be able to re-let my apartment any time soon - there are a lot of empty apartments here.

If I can't get out of my lease, and I just moved out and was subsequently evicted, I know my credit would be damaged. But what about them suing me - how likely would that be, and where would it happen? In Illinois or the state I'm moving to? And would they have to serve me, or just send papers to my last known address?

Re: How can I get out of my lease?

YOUR MOVING RELOCATION IS NOT CAUSE TOP BREAK A LEASE, I WOULD TRY TO NEGOTIATE SOMETHING WITH LANDLORD, BECAUSE HE CAN SUE YOU, BUT IT WILL BE IN ILLINOIS, BUT YOU HAVE TO BE SERVED AT YOUR NEW ADDRESS, LIKELIHOOD UNKNOWN
