Re: legal description

There are several ways. In Chicago, you can obtain Sidwell maps from the County's Real Estate Department at the County Building downtown presuming the property is located in Cook County. Another way is through the Cook County Recorder's Office website which has available recorded documents online at www.ccrd.info. There, you can order documents that may refer to the property's legal description on a particular document (i.e. a deed, mortgage, etc.). However, beware because the information contained in those documents is only as good as the person creating those documents. Just like a computer, "junk in, junk out". If the property is located elsewhere, outside of Cook County, call the local Assessor's Office where the property is located and ask them for assistance.
