Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois

Is it legal for any one person who is not an attorney to prepare any type of document for anyone but themselves, such as a deed, a trust or a will? If not, how do I get paper documents to support that?

To answer your question, no, that would be the unauthorized practice of law. Here is a link to a document you may find helpful:

Generally, the preparation of deeds and similar documents by someone other than an attorney constitutes the unauthorized practice of law. Upon information concerning the same, the conduct will be pursued by state authorities or certain bar associations. I am not sure exactly what you are asking with your second question, but, if recorded, then the deed should be available at the County Recorder's Office. I urge you, before going too far in addressing your concerns, that you run the circumstances and any copies you obtain by a knowledgeable party (e.g., attorney, realtor, title agent).
