Liability for funeral expenses.

My brother-in-law signed for the funeral expenses of my deceased father-in-law. The surviving children paid the brother-in-law their share thinking that the brother-in-law had paid the funeral home. The funeral home sued the brother-in-law, obtained a judgement and has been unable to collect. The funeral home is now threatening to sue the other siblings. Are the other siblings liable for the funeral expenses not paid to the funeral home?
