Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois
Lien on a Condo unit
I am the president of a Condo Association in Skokie. Two units have been abandoned in the last few months and are delinquent on assessments. The Board is looking to put liens on these units or other alternatives.

Is there a question on ownership? ie what do you mean by abondoned.
You would be better off filing a forcible entry and detainer action aginst the units. Then you could gain possession and rent them out to satisfy the asessments.
If they are abandoned, there is probably a forclosure case against them as well. If the property is forclosed on it may extinguish your lien.
email me with the PIN numbers and I can find out if there is a foreclosure action pending.
Re: Lien on a Condo unit
It really isn't clear from your question as to what you wish to do. 1. Can you lien the unit? Yes. Do you need help doing this? 2. I suspect that what you really wish to do is file a FE&D. I can help there, too.
Re: Lien on a Condo unit
You need to either file an eviction proceeding against the owner/tenant if they are still there, you need to enforce your condo assoc. lien upon the property and file an appearance on any foreclosure action (in case there are surplus funds)
