In general, no, a mortgage company does not "forget about" you if you do not pay your mortgage. A person is better off contacting the mortgage company to arrange payments such as under the new Federal mortgage programs. Please contact an experienced real estate attorney to help you.

This answer is given as a general public service and does not in itself create an attorney client priveledge or constitute legal advice. A person should talk with an attorney to fully understand the relevant facts and options.
