Living Conditions

How do we prove that we have a serious problem with mold in our carpeting? The building is very old and falling apart, but the smell in the apt is horrible.

I'd probably write a letter to the landlord, complaining that the carpet is molded and that the living conditions are untenable as a result. I would request that the carpet get fully cleaned or replaced.

If they dispute your claim, tell them that you want them to have it tested by an appropriate professional, perhaps someone from your local government has an inspector or other personnel to recommend for the testing.
