Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois

how long must I hold onto abandoned property?

I had someone living with me short term that I evicted due to her stealing hundreds of dollars from me with fraudulent bank charges (which she admitted to the police). she refuses to come and pick up her belongings. How long do I have to legally hold on to her things? There is no agreeement for me to hold on to her things and I have repeatedly reminded her that she needs to come and get her belongings. Is it legaly for me to dispose of her items or even sell them since she has basically abandoned them? It has been over 30 days and she still refuses to come get her stuff.

Re: how long must I hold onto abandoned property?

You need to amend the eviction order to include her belongings and have the sheriff remove them.
