Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois
Married, but want to purchase house alone
I am still married, we are separated and living apart, and have been for a while. Divorce is iminent, but neither of us are in a hurry. I was wondering if it is possible to purchase a home myself before a divorce.

Yes, but...
Your spouse may be able to claim an interest in the real estate. Also, the lender and/or title company may require your spouse to sign several of the closing documents.

File for a legal separation - it will be more secure
