Mechanic's Lien

I did some work in Rolling Meadows, and they wrote me a bad check, now i cannot find them. What do I do? I think I can file a mechanics lien, because it was a furnace I installed in a rental property.

You certainly may. They are filed with the County Clerk. I don't know if the County Clerk has an office in the Rolling Meadows branch courthouse, but call and find out. You may have to go to the City/County Building (aka City Hall) ) in downtown Chicago.

Yes you can - you have to file within four months and it remains a good lien for two years - thereafter, you must renew
